Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible duct sealing and repair components across Orange County, with most installed jobs landing between $275 and $620 depending on your model and what’s failed. If you’re reading this, you probably noticed your Rotobrush air wash or negative air system isn’t holding the seal it used to, or a gasket finally gave out mid-job. The good news is we carry the wear parts that fail first, and we can usually have you back to full function the same visit we diagnose it.

Most Orange County owners discover this problem the hard way: a sudden loss of suction, visible dust escaping around a fitting, or a seal that won’t stay seated no matter how many times you reseat it. Paul Adeyemi has opened up enough Rotobrush units in Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Huntington Beach to know exactly what wears and when, which is why we keep the common failure points on the truck instead of making you wait on a parts order.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Rotobrush has used a few different sealing configurations over the years, and the part you need depends on your unit’s generation. The AiR+ and Revolution series use a drum-and-brush seal assembly that sits behind the brush head, while the older R2 and Pro models use a simpler compression gasket that’s easier to spot but harder to find aftermarket this far into their service life. Check the data plate on the back of your machine: the first two digits of the serial number tell you the production year, and that’s the fastest way we can confirm compatibility before we quote you a price.
Here’s a compatibility gotcha we see a lot in Orange County: using an aftermarket gasket on a Revolution series unit often works for a few weeks, then fails at the flex points because the material isn’t rated for the drum RPM. For AiR+ and Revolution, we recommend the OEM seal assembly from Rotobrush. For older R2 and Pro units where OEM support has thinned out, we stock a quality aftermarket equivalent that we’ve tested across dozens of local jobs. We’re an independent provider, not affiliated with Rotobrush, but we’ve been working on their machines long enough to know what holds up and what doesn’t.

Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- Visible dust blow-by around the brush head. The seal has worn unevenly, usually on one side first. Air takes the path of least resistance, so you’ll see a fine dust plume in one consistent direction while the machine runs.
- Reduced suction at the collection bag. A failing seal lets conditioned air leak back into the duct instead of carrying debris through the system. The motor runs fine, but you’re not pulling the volume you used to.
- A chattering or flapping sound during rotation. The seal material has delaminated or torn, and it’s catching on the drum with each pass. This one is worth addressing quickly because it accelerates wear on the drum itself.
- Seal won’t seat after removal and reinstall. This is the classic compression gasket failure on older R2 and Pro units. The material has taken a permanent set and lost its spring-back.
- Fine debris accumulating around the machine base. If you’re finding dust that settled after the job instead of during it, the seal is leaking at rest, not just under load. That’s usually the outer lip of the assembly failing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For AIr+ and Revolution series units in Orange County, expect $320 to $480 for the OEM seal assembly installed at your location or ours. Older R2 and Pro models run $275 to $390 with the aftermarket equivalent. If we find the drum itself is scored or the brush head mount is worn, that adds to the quote, but we show you the damage before we touch anything. Every quote is a flat price with the part cost and labor separated, and you approve it before we open the panel.
The price includes the seal or gasket, the full removal and reinstallation, a test run to confirm the seal is holding under operating load, and a visual check of the drum and brush head for related wear. We back parts and labor with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the seal fails again within a year and it’s our install, we make it right. That’s part of the Cedarwell Care Promise we hold ourselves to on every job in Orange County.

DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do before calling: check your serial number against the compatibility notes above, take a photo of the worn part, and feel for scoring on the drum surface. If you don’t see drum damage, the repair is often straightforward for us and quick.
What we’d caution against: running the unit with a failing seal while you troubleshoot. The leak usually gets worse over days, not weeks, and you end up grinding fine dust into the brush head bearings and motor mounts. Rotobrush machines are worth doing right. If you suspect the seal is gone, call us at (831) 244-9367, send us the photo, and we’ll give you a written quote before we send anyone out.
FAQs
In Orange County conditions, an OEM seal on an AiR+ or Revolution unit typically lasts 18 to 30 months of regular use before it starts losing its edge, which is shorter than other climates due to the dry air and fine coastal dust working into the material. Aftermarket seals on older models run 12 to 18 months. When ours start to go, we usually catch it at a routine duct job before you ever notice a performance drop, so you may not need to track the hours yourself.
No, not reliably. The materials used in Rotobrush seals, whether OEM or aftermarket, don’t respond well to gluing or trimming. A patch will hold for a job or two and then fail at a flex point, often mid-job. Replacement is the only fix we’ll stand behind.
Most replacements take 45 to 90 minutes on site, depending on how much disassembly your model requires and whether the drum needs cleaning before the new seal goes on. We give you a time window before we start, and we don’t rush the test run at the end, because that’s where we confirm the fix actually took.
We stock the common Rotobrush seal assemblies and gasket equivalents on our trucks for AiR+, Revolution, R2, and Pro models. If your unit needs something more specific, we can usually have it within a few days, and we’ll tell you the expected wait before you commit. Call us today for an exact quote.
